AFG

Association Française de la Gestion (French Asset Management Association)

A professional organisation representing the French Financial Management Industry on behalf of a third party (individual, corporate or collective management).

 

 
AGE

Assemblée Générale Extraordinaire (Extraordinary General Meeting)

A meeting of a company’s shareholders, summoned to decide upon specific areas of the company’s life.

 

 
AGM

Annual General Meeting
Meeting of a company's shareholders called to decide on specific points in the company's life. 

 
AIMR

Association for Investment Management & Research
This Association has set out standards for the presentation of results of funds and fund families operated by asset management companies. AIMR certification provides a guarantee that information is transparent, complete and easy to compare.

 
ALPHA

Performance target of a fund when the fund’s reference index is equivalent to a performance of zero.

 
AMF

Created in August 2003 as a result of the merger between the COB (stock exchange committee) and the CMF (Financial Markets Advisory Board), the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (Financial Markets Authority) is an independent public body with juridical personality, charged with ensuring:

  • the protection of savings invested in financial instruments and of any other investment that gives rise to a public call for savings;
  • that investors are kept adequately informed;
  • that the financial instrument markets operate successfully.

The AMF has authority over:

  • financial transactions and information
  • collective savings products
  • the markets, their organisation and their operation
  • investment services professionals
  • regulations, authorisations, monitoring and sanctions.


 
ANNUAL REPORT

Mandatory document drawn up by a company (or a SICAV) at the close of the calendar year. This presents the various aspects of the management policy followed, as well as the company’s detailed financial statements for the year in question. This is placed at the disposal of SICAV shareholders by the trust company.

 
AUTHORIZED MANAGEMENT

Personalised form of management in which the customer of a financial intermediary signs a contract that authorizes the establishment to manage its assets or, in other words, to perform all the operations the fund manager deems appropriate. Authorized management can also be practiced on behalf of corporate investors, within the scope of multi-management.
